The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical trials is rapidly gaining momentum, as researchers and pharmaceutical companies alike recognize the potential of this technology to revolutionize the drug development process.

One of the key benefits of AI is its ability to process large amounts of data quickly and efficiently. This is essential in clinical trials, where researchers need to collect and analyse vast amounts of data in order to make informed decisions about the safety and efficacy of new drugs. AI can help to automate many of the tasks involved in data collection and analysis, freeing up researchers to focus on other aspects of the trial.

In addition to processing data more quickly, AI can also help to identify patterns and trends that would be difficult to spot with the naked eye. This can be invaluable in early-stage clinical trials, where researchers are trying to determine whether a new drug is even worth pursuing. By using AI to analyse data, researchers can identify promising leads more quickly and efficiently, which can lead to faster drug development.

ClinTex is one project that is leading the way in the development of AI powered clinical trial data solutions. The company’s CTAi app is designed to help medics seamlessly interact with their data to produce valuable insights and visualisations. This is an exciting development for the industry, as it means that medics do not need to rely on data scientists and programmers to answer their questions. Instead, using the CTAi Natural Language Processing engine, questions in plain English can easily be translated into insightful data and visuals.

The potential of AI in clinical trials is vast. By automating tasks, identifying patterns, and improving patient recruitment, AI can help to speed up the drug development process and to deliver new treatments to patients more quickly. ClinTex is at the forefront of this revolution, and its CTAI app is a powerful example of how AI can be used to improve the clinical trial process.

The future of AI in clinical trials is bright. As the technology continues to develop, we can expect to see even more benefits for patients and researchers alike.

Please refer to the ClinTex 2023 Roadmap which now includes milestones for the progression of the CTAi app.

As mentioned in previous communications, ClinTex have been working with LVL Health and Celadon Pharmaceuticals to evaluate the use of CTi to support the CANPAIN Phase III clinical trial. This trial has been devised to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a defined cannabis-based medicinal product.

(CBMP) delivered by inhalation to patients with non-cancer chronic pain attending a private clinic.

During Q2 2023, ClinTex have been preparing for this clinical trial to begin by developing data visual concepts to support oversight and ensure operational efficiency and data quality during study conduct.

These visuals cover both effectiveness and safety of CBMP and include the following:

How pain is recorded via an NRS during a clinical trial

• Pain scores (NRS) summated and by pain types. (NRS — Numerical Related Scale)

Secondary variables (not comparable to matched controls)

• Quality of life scores; 12 item short form health survey (SF-12),

summated and by pain type

• Sleep quality scores (NRS)

• Anxiety (NRS)

• Depression (NRS)

• Fatigue (NRS)

• Appetite (NRS)

• Nausea NRS

• Wellbeing score (NRS)

• Global impression of change

• Concomitant use of pain medications (doses per subject per week),

summated and by pain type. In the case of opioids daily opioid uptake

will be converted to morphine equivalent daily dose (MEDD)

Safety and Tolerability

Daily analysis of THC specific effects:

• Anxiety (NRS)

• Drowsiness (NRS)

• Dizziness (NRS)

• Shortness of breath (NRS)

• Adverse events reported

We will keep our community updated as a start date for this trial is confirmed.
